Description
The adventurer sleuth who became an industry!
Sexton Blake is a fictional detective who was featured in many British comic strips, novels and dramatic productions since 1893. Sexton Blake adventures were featured in a wide variety of British and international publications (in many languages) from 1893 to 1978, comprising more than 4,000 stories by some 200 different authors. Blake was also the hero of numerous silent and sound films, radio serials, and a 1960s ITV television series.
This edition collects the rare first story by Hal Blyth and several successive tales (including some from the best Blake storytellers like G.H. Teed, William and Robert Murray Graydon) where Blake evolves differently into the character that became a lasting and bestselling detective-adventurer. The success of these tales led to the creation of The Sexton Blake Library in 1915 which in its heyday had as many as five issues in a month.
